BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – The Florida Tech Panthers controlled the action from the opening quarter and never let up, powering their way to a 69-60 victory over the Barry Buccaneers in Miami Shores to clinch a spot in the Sunshine State Conference Tournament.

Florida Tech established its dominance early with a commanding presence in the paint, converting second-chance opportunities and attacking the rim for key layups. The difference-maker came on the glass, where the Panthers outrebounded Barry 44-29 — a decisive margin that secured their postseason berth in the Sunshine State Conference Tournament.

Tai Roberts led all scorers with 21 points on an efficient 9-of-16 shooting performance. She added eight rebounds and three assists in a complete all-around effort that kept the Panthers in control throughout.

Amanda Ogbonna was relentless on the boards, pulling down 13 rebounds — including five on the offensive end — while recording a double-double with 14 points. Mikayla Morin also made her presence felt inside, grabbing 10 rebounds to go along with nine points.

Elif Bayrak provided a spark from beyond the arc, scoring 13 points and knocking down three 3-pointers to help stretch the Buccaneers’ defense.

The win improves Florida Tech to 48-39 all-time against Barry, evening the Panthers’ record at 20-20 in games played in Miami Shores. It marks Tech’s first victory in Miami Shores since March 7, 2021 (78-65), and the program’s first win at Barry’s Health and Sports Center in front of fans since December 16, 2019 (79-68).

The Panthers also completed their first season sweep of Barry since the 2015-16 campaign and are headed to the SSC Tournament for the first time in a full 20-game conference season since 2020.

Florida Tech returns home to the Clemente Center to close out the regular season against the Lynn Fighting Knights on Saturday, February 28. Tipoff is set for 2 p.m., with Senior Day recognition scheduled to begin 15 minutes prior.
