The Viera Hawks girls soccer team saw its outstanding season come to a close with a 2-0 loss to St. Thomas Aquinas High School in the FHSAA Class state semifinal on Monday in DeLand.

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – The Viera Hawks girls soccer team saw its outstanding season come to a close with a 2-0 loss to St. Thomas Aquinas High School in the FHSAA Class state semifinal on Monday in DeLand.

The Hawks battled throughout the match but were unable to break through against a talented St. Thomas Aquinas squad. Viera kept the game within reach in the first half before the Raiders capitalized on their opportunities to secure the shutout victory and a spot in the state championship match.

Despite the loss, Viera finishes the season with an impressive 16-5 overall record. The Hawks made a strong postseason run and continued to establish themselves as one of the top programs in the state.

Viera was led this season by junior standout Eva McMenemy-Hoang, who paced the offense with 25 goals. The Hawks’ combination of scoring ability, defensive discipline and teamwork powered them back to the state’s final four and capped another memorable campaign for the program.

Viera (16-4) will face powerhouse St. Thomas Aquinas (21-2-1) Monday morning at 10 a.m. in DeLand with a spot in the state championship match on the line.
