BREVARD COUNTY • PORT CANAVERAL, FLORIDA — Nearly 300 junior anglers took part in a day of learning and laughter on Saturday, February 7, as the Florida Sport Fishing Association of East Central Florida hosted its 30th Annual Port Canaveral Kids Fishing Clinic at Jetty Park.
The longtime community tradition introduced children to the fundamentals of fishing in a hands-on, family-friendly setting. Throughout the day, participants rotated through instructional stations covering a wide range of topics, including fishing techniques, proper use of equipment, water safety, knot tying, conservation practices, and fish identification.
Volunteers and experienced anglers guided the young fishermen and women, emphasizing not only how to catch fish, but also the importance of respecting Florida’s marine environment. For many of the children, the clinic served as their first opportunity to hold a rod and reel or learn the basics of responsible angling.
As lines were cast and lessons were learned, smiles were plentiful along the Jetty Park shoreline.
Organizers and families alike agreed the milestone 30th anniversary event was a “reel-ly” fun day, continuing a tradition that inspires the next generation of anglers while promoting education, conservation, and outdoor enjoyment.
