LINCOLN, Neb. — Distinguished Orthopedic Trauma Surgeon and Hip & Knee Reconstruction Specialist Dr. Steven Shannon announces the launch of the Dr. Steven Shannon Scholarship for Medical Students. Designed to support the next generation of healthcare leaders, this one-time $1,000 award aids dedicated undergraduate students across the United States who are pursuing careers in medicine or doctoral studies.
The scholarship aims to alleviate financial hurdles for ambitious pre-med, biology, chemistry, and science-related majors enrolled at accredited colleges and universities. Scholarship Eligibility and Guidelines

• Demonstrate U.S. citizenship or permanent residency status.
• Exhibit a genuine dedication to healthcare through academic achievement, volunteer service, or extracurricular engagement.
Applicants must submit an essay between 500 and 1,000 words responding to a prompt about their inspiration for entering medicine, the experiences and mentors shaping their journey, and their vision for impacting future patients.

Submitting an application requires minimal setup. Candidates must prepare their double-spaced essay in Word or PDF format, including their full name, contact information, major, and current educational institution at the top of the document. About the Founder
Dr. Steven Shannon earned a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry & Molecular Biology from the University of Nevada, Reno, followed by a Doctor of Medicine from the University of Nevada School of Medicine. He completed an Orthopedic Surgery Residency at the Mayo Clinic and an Orthopedic Trauma Fellowship at the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center. Board-certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery, Dr. Steven Shannon currently serves as a Locums Orthopedic Trauma Surgeon and Hip & Knee Reconstruction Specialist, bringing high-level surgical expertise to patients nationwide.
