BREVARD COUNTY • INDIALANTIC, FLORIDA – A portion of Riverside Drive in unincorporated Indialantic, between Coral Way and Sand Dollar Road, will close Monday, August 25, for the second phase of Brevard County Public Work’s multi-year, multi-phase drainage improvement project.

The complete road closure is expected to last approximately three months, with the roadway anticipated to reopen to a single-lane rolling closure in early December. Additional project phases will be announced as details become available.

The project phase will improve stormwater infrastructure beneath Riverside Drive and connect to the new dual 8-foot by 3-foot concrete box culverts installed during the first phase.

This project will strengthen drainage and roadway infrastructure along this high-traffic corridor, enhancing safety and long-term resilience for the community.

To assist drivers during the closure, clearly marked detour signage will be in place.

The detour routes are as follows:

•    Southbound Traffic: Eau Gallie Blvd. to Hwy A1A to Paradise Blvd.

•    Northbound Traffic: Paradise Blvd. to Hwy A1A to Eau Gallie Blvd.

After the road reopens, construction will continue with traffic reduced to a single lane controlled by flaggers for the remainder of the phase which is expected to last approximately 6 months.

Residential driveway access will be maintained throughout construction. Sidewalk access along Riverside Drive is also expected to remain open except during limited periods of excavation to deconflict sanitary and storm sewer in the vicinity of Coral Way for this project.

When sidewalk closures occur, pedestrians are encouraged to use adjacent neighborhood streets to reach State Road A1A.

The public should also be aware that separate Brevard County Utility Services Department construction is taking place on Riverside Drive south of Paradise Boulevard, which may also result in additional temporary impacts to traffic and sidewalks along this corridor.
