BREVARD COUNTY • ROCKLEDGE, FLORIDA – The City of Rockledge and the Rockledge Community Redevelopment Agency will host special events in commemoration of the Independence Day holiday.
Events kick off on Friday, July 3, with A Midsummer’s Night of Music, 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., at McLarty Park located at 790 Barton Boulevard in Rockledge.
A number of Rockledge’s own local talents will be performing a variety of musical favorites and song-and-dance routines.
The evening’s entertainment lineup features Natalie McKnight-Palmer and a variety of her students from Rockledge-based Better Than Broadway Studio, along with performing-artist and guitarist, Jill Carlyle.
Food vendors, a DJ, and beer and wine for sale courtesy of Rockledge Rotary round out the event activities. Although some bleacher-type seating is available, spectators are encouraged to bring a blanket or lawn chair.
On Saturday, July 4, the City will host its 29th Annual Independence Day Picnic, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., also at McLarty Park.
This hometown favorite features children’s activities, games, face painting and swimming at a reduced cost, as well as music from DJ Master Key. For just $1, attendees can grab their choice of a hamburger or hot dog, chips and a soft drink.
July 4 events culminate with a fireworks display at Cocoa Riverfront Park courtesy of the Cities of Rockledge and Cocoa. Activities begin at 5 p.m. in Cocoa Village, with the Brevard Symphony Orchestra scheduled to perform at 8 p.m. Fireworks are slated for approximately 9:15 p.m.
Parking and admission are free for all events.
