Titusville Police Arrest Suspect Matthew Wayne Bartlett In Hit-and-Run Crash

BREVARD COUNTY • TITUSVILLE, FLORIDA – Titusville Police have arrested a suspect in connection with a hit-and-run traffic crash that occurred on Tuesday, January 10.

Matthew Wayne Bartlett, 57, of Titusville, was arrested and charged with Driving While Under the Influence (DUI), Leaving the Scene of a Traffic Crash with Bodily Injury and Reckless Driving.

According to the Titusville police, the preliminary investigation revealed that at approximately 10:30 a.m. at the intersection of Cheney Highway and Sisson Road, the suspect driving westbound in a Ford Explorer hit the rear end of a Honda Civic that was stopped at the traffic light.

“The suspect left the crash scene without stopping and continued westbound on Cheney Highway for approximately one mile, and crashed into a Honda CRZ, which subsequently forced that vehicle to crash into a Toyota Prius at the intersection of Cheney Highway and Barna Avenue,” said Amy Matthews, Titusville Police Department Public Affairs Coordinator/Public Information Officer.

All four drivers involved in the traffic crashes were the sole occupants of their vehicles.

The driver of the Honda Civic was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries. The driver of the Honda CRZ was treated at a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Bartlett is currently being held at the Brevard County Jail with $17,500 bond.
