Melbourne High School’s State Champion Jazzy Francik Honored as First Team All-American By MaxPreps

Mel-High’s Jasmine “Jazzy” Francik has added yet another post-season award as she was selected First Team All-American by MaxPreps. The 5-foot-6-inch sophomore right-handed pitcher led the Bulldogs to a 26-2-1 record and the Class 6A state championship last season, posting a 19-1 mark with a 0.16 earned run average in the circle – and striking out 251 batters while allowing just 32 hits and 19 walks in 129.2 innings pitched for a 0.39 WHIP.

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Mel-High’s Jasmine “Jazzy” Francik has added yet another post-season award as she was selected First Team All-American by MaxPreps.

The 5-foot-6-inch sophomore right-handed pitcher led the Bulldogs to a 26-2-1 record and the Class 6A state championship last season, posting a 19-1 mark with a 0.16 earned run average in the circle – and striking out 251 batters while allowing just 32 hits and 19 walks in 129.2 innings pitched for a 0.39 WHIP.

Francik started playing softball with T-Ball hen she was five years old. She pitched on the Varsity level since the seventh grade at Cocoa Beach Jr./Sr. High School, and last year was the starting pitcher for Melbourne High School as a freshman. She currently plays travel for Florida Storm National Shepherd 18U.

“When I was almost eight years old, I asked Santa for pitching lessons and he came through,” said
Francik.

“I have been pitching ever since and I can’t imagine life without softball. I started playing travel ball when I was eight years old and have never taken a break because I love being on the clay and in the circle. I have played for some great coaches with awesome teammates, and am extremely grateful to everyone in my life; past, present and future for helping build me in to the best pitcher and person I can be.”

An excellent stdent, Francik is enrolled in the IB Program at Melbourne High School, with a GPA of 3.97/4.43. She will begin her junior year of high school this fall.

Off the field, Francik is the social media manager of the UNICEF Club at Melbourne High. She has also volunteered locally as a youth softball coach and at Nana’s Children’s Home, a community for foster children.
