Titusville Native, Oregon Guard Kario Oquendo Transfers to Southern Methodist University

Oregon senior guard Kario Oquendo has committed to SMU, he announced on Instagram on Friday. He entered the NCAA transfer portal on April 10 looking for a new home for his final year of eligibility.

The Titusville native attended Astronaut High School and was the 2019 Brevard County 5A Player of the Year and scored over 1,000 career points.

(ON3.COM) – Oregon senior guard Kario Oquendo has committed to SMU, he announced on Instagram on Friday. He entered the NCAA transfer portal on April 10 looking for a new home for his final year of eligibility.

This past season, Oquendo averaged 7.2 points and 2.4 rebounds per game for the Ducks. There, he helped play a role in Oregon winning the 2024 Pac-12 Tournament championship.

Despite this, he played a total of 18 minutes during the Duck’s two NCAA Tournament games. This season, he shot 45.9 percent from the field and scored 15 points against USC in a matchup this year.

He started his college career in 2020 at Florida Southwestern State College. He transferred to Georgia in 2022 before spending one season in Eugene. Now, he’s Andy Enfield’s first addition to the SMU roster after taking over for Rob Lanier.
