Eastern Florida State College Athletics has Another Stellar Season as Nine Teams Play for National Title

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – It was another historic season for Eastern Florida State College athletics as nine of the 13 sports competed for an NJCAA Division I national title, and 12 teams made the postseason.

Men’s tennis player Hugo Car became the first Titan to win an NJCAA Division I National Title in singles, winning the title at No. 1 singles in Texas.

Overall, three teams finished in the top five in the nation as the women’s soccer team once again played in the national championship game, falling 1-0 in overtime. The men’s tennis team finished third overall for the second straight season and the women’s tennis team placed fifth in the nation.

The men’s soccer team made the national tournament for the first time in four years after winning both the Region 8 title as well as the Southeast District Championship. The Titans lost in pool play and did not advance to the semifinals.

The women’s cross country team took 15th place overall in the NJCAA Division I National Tournament after winning the Region 8 Division I title. Sophomore Rachel Starr won the Region 8 Division I race.

The women’s team also got invited to the NJCAA Division I Women’s Half Marathon National Championships, finishing seventh. Starr ran her first half marathon and finished fourth overall in a time of one hour, 22 minutes and 49.8 seconds.

The men’s cross country team won the Region 8 Division I title for the second straight season to advance to the NJCAA Division I National Tournament. The team ran well at the national tournament, placing 17th overall in their second season as a team. Sophomore Dayton Law won the Region 8 Division I race for the second straight year.

The men’s team also ran in the NJCAA Men’s Half Marathon National Championships, placing 10th overall.

The women’s basketball team made the NJCAA Division I National Tournament for the third straight season. The team went 27-5 last year and made it to the semifinals of the FCSAA Women’s Basketball Championship. (EFSC image)

The women’s basketball team made the NJCAA Division I National Tournament for the third straight season. The team went 27-5 last year and made it to the semifinals of the FCSAA Women’s Basketball Championship.

They won the conference title for the third straight season, going 21-0 in conference play and have won 45 straight conference games. Sophomore Amelia Hassett was named the FCSAA Women’s Basketball Player of the Year after averaging 19 points and 12.7 rebounds per game and recorded a program-record 21 double-doubles.

The men’s golf team placed 14th overall at the NJCAA Division I National Tournament in Hobbs, New Mexico. It was the 23rd straight season that the program has played for a national title.

The women’s golf team made the NJCAA Division I National Tournament for the third straight season, placing eighth overall in the nation. The Titans hosted the national tournament for the first time and was played at Duran Golf Club.

The softball team made the postseason for the first time since 2019 and were one game away from making the NJCAA Division I National Tournament, falling to Northwest Florida State College in the South Atlantic District Championship Game. Sophomore centerfielder Jenna Borkey made program history, winning a Gold Glove as one of the best defensive outfielders in the country.

The women’s volleyball team made the FCSAA Division I Volleyball Championships for the second straight season, losing in the quarterfinals after a 14-win season. The team set a program record, being nationally ranked throughout the season and finished in the top 20.

Individually, 16 Titan student-athletes were named to All-America teams which is the most in school history.
