Barbara Joanne Lehman celebrated Christmas in heaven this year after completing her earthly journey on December 22, 2024, in Oconomowoc, WI. For 63 years, Barbie lived in the moment and embraced each day as a chance to share smiles and laughter.

She loved fiercely, showed gratitude sincerely, trusted completely, and treasured friendships deeply.

Barbie was born on April 27, 1961, in Des Moines, IA, to Robert and Wauneta Lehman. With her first breath, she proved that she would not be hindered or defined by the obstacles living with Prader-Willi Syndrome would place in her path. Despite her struggles, her empathetic heart knew no bounds and she deeply felt the joy and pain of others.

Barbie showed that life is best lived enjoying the simple things: a cup of coffee shared with family and friends, the value of a good day’s work, a paycheck which enabled her to bless others, a competitive game of UNO, and a piece of cake.

Prader-Willi Homes of Oconomowoc was Barbie’s home away from home. ‘Barbie Girl’ shared pillow fights, holiday fun, trips to the movies, coffee runs, and dancing with her caregivers and housemates whom she loved like family. Her employment at Pantheon Industries was a source of pride.

Above all, Barbie treasured being with her mom in the home she loved in Cocoa Beach, FL. While there, she also attended Riverside Presbyterian Church, where she was a member.

Being ‘Aunt B’ to her nine nieces and nephews and their spouses was her greatest honor; when they were together, their shared love filled the room with teasing and laughter. She danced at their weddings, crafted latchhook rugs for their children, and remembered their birthdays.

Barbie is once again with her daddy. Her mother, sisters and brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and nephews will cherish her memory and will strive to live in a way that honors her loyal love for us, her indefatigable spirit, and her contagious joy for life.

A visitation coffee is planned for January 5, 2025, from 2-4 pm at Beckman-Williamson Funeral Home in Cocoa Beach. A celebration of life will be planned for her 64th birthday on April 27, 2025.
