BREVARD COUNTY • FLORIDA — Two Florida Fish and Wildlife officers were undeterred even during this historic weather event in Florida, which brought in 6 to 8 inches of snow.

The officers braved the freezing water in Gulf County to rescue 30 sea turtles. Their hard work exemplifies the spirit of dedication to the mission to protect wildlife for their long-term success.

“Our officers, staff, and partners are still working diligently to search and rescue cold-stunned sea turtles across our northwest coastlines,” said a FWC spokesperson.

FWC officials said if you see injured, distressed, or dead sea turtles, report it immediately to the Wildlife Alert Hotline at 888-404-FWCC (3922) so trained responders can assist.

The FWCC works with FWC-authorized Marine Turtle Permit Holders trained to rescue sea turtles.
