BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA — The Home Builders and Contractors Association of Florida’s Space Coast announced that their Treasurer, Christina Slate, owner of Peay’s Electric in West Melbourne, was selected from a nationwide pool of candidates to attend the National Association of Home Builders Leadership Academy in April in Washington D.C.

The Leadership Academy is an annual program that takes a small cohort of experienced industry leaders through programming designed to elevate the participant’s leadership skills, build institutional knowledge of the Federation, and inspire and prepare them for greater leadership roles in the future.

The program will allow future leaders to experience multiple aspects of what it means to be a leader in the home-building industry while defining their leadership style. Sessions feature guest speakers and industry leaders in person and virtually.

In addition to her volunteer work with the Space Coast HBCA, Slate is the Regional Vice President and Membership Chair for the Florida Home Builders Association.

“We are very proud of Christina for being accepted to this prestigious leadership academy. Christina is a highly successful businesswoman who is dedicated to the success of our local building industry. I cannot think of a more deserving individual,” said John Thomas, Chief Executive Officer of the Space Coast Home Builders and Contractors Association.

The Home Builders and Contractors Association of Florida’s Space Coast is a professional, non-profit trade association dedicated to creating a climate in which the construction industry can prosper.

It provides government representation, programs, and marketing opportunities to ensure members have a competitive advantage.

“We are very proud of Christina for being accepted to this prestigious leadership academy.
