Three People Dead After Vehicle Fleeing State Troopers Crashes Into Tow Trucks on Exit Ramp

Florida Highway Patrol responded to the scene of a devastating fatal crash that claimed the lives of three people on Friday at the exit ramp of mile marker 201.

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Florida Highway Patrol responded to the scene of a devastating fatal crash that claimed the lives of three people on Friday at the exit ramp of mile marker 201.

According to the investigation, state troopers say the crash occurred around 8:30 a.m. when a vehicle was in a high speed chase from Florida Highway Patrol.

Authorities say the crash happened on northbound I-95 near mile marker 201 (King Street), when the vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed while actively fleeing from the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP).

A 2005 Ford F-650 tow truck and a 2011 Ford F-750 tow truck, respectively, were parked and unoccupied on the right shoulder of the I-95 northbound exit ramp to mile marker 201.

The fleeing vehicle left the roadway and entered the exit ramp, where it collided with both parked tow trucks.

As a result of the crash, the driver of the fleeing vehicle and a pedestrian sustained critical injuries and were airlifted to Holmes Regional Medical Center via Air Care.

Authorities say the man in the fleeing vehicle was a 41-year-old from Sebastian.

The Medical Examiner’s Office will provide positive identification of the deceased to FHP. The crash remains under investigation.
