BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Mrs. Dorothy Ann “Dotty” Patton (née Ciechon), age 84, passed away peacefully on March 12, 2025, in Rockledge, Florida, and was a resident of Melbourne, FL (1989-2025).

Born on January 11, 1941, in Manchester, New Hampshire, and a resident of Melbourne, Florida, she lived a life marked by resilience, warmth, and unwavering devotion to her family.

Dotty was the beloved wife of John R. Patton and a devoted mother to their two children, John R. Patton III and Sandra A. Patton. She took immense pride in her role as a grandmother to Ariana Patton-Belkin, Tatiana Patton, and Kristina Patton. Her love for her family was evident in every thoughtful gesture, from her carefully chosen Christmas gifts to the countless arts and crafts projects she shared with her children over the years.

She is also remembered fondly by her sister, Margaret (Ciechon) Cavello. Dotty now joins her parents, Matthew and Marion (Lawrence) Ciechon; her brother, Matthew Ciechon II; and her sister, Norma L. (Ciechon) Gancarz, who preceded her in death.

Throughout her life, Dotty embraced change with strength and grace. As a military spouse, she navigated the challenges of frequent relocations across the globe with determination and adaptability. Whether setting up a new home or building a community wherever she landed, she remained a steady source of love and support for those around her.

Professionally, Dotty worked as an assistant to a Real Estate appraiser and later as a Realtor specializing in New Home Sales while living in Bowie, Maryland (1979-1989). Her work ethic reflected her belief that everyone could make a difference if they did their part-a conviction she carried into every aspect of her life.

Dotty had many passions that brought joy both to herself and those lucky enough to share them with her. She was an avid cook who delighted in experimenting with recipes from television shows and cookbooks alike, always striving to create delicious meals for friends and family. Her kitchen was often filled with the comforting aromas of home-cooked dishes prepared with care.

A fierce competitor at heart, Dotty found great enjoyment in playing Bridge with local friends and Gin Rummy with her granddaughter-a pastime that became a cherished tradition between them. Her sharp mind and spirited nature made every game memorable.

Known for her strong will and candid honesty, Dotty never hesitated to speak her mind-often punctuating decisions with her signature phrase: “No, no, and Hell No.” Yet beneath that resolute exterior was a deeply affectionate woman who generously gave herself to those she loved.

Her legacy lives on through the traditions she created, the values she instilled in her family, and the countless memories shared around holiday tables adorned with handmade cookies or Halloween costumes crafted together.
