BREVARD COUNTY • VIERA, FLORIDA — The Brevard County Board of County Commissioners has scheduled a Special Meeting for 9 a.m. on Thursday, July 3, for approval of a rate resolution to impose a non-ad valorem special assessment for the state’s Medicaid Managed Care for Direct Payment Program for Local Hospitals.

In Florida, ad valorem (property) taxes can be utilized to support Medicaid reimbursements to hospitals.

The upcoming discussion will focus on a special assessment related to Medicaid managed care, which would enable direct payments to local hospitals. This is an annual action by the Board, last addressed on September 17, 2024.

Per Board policy, the agenda for a special meeting is restricted to the specific purpose for which the meeting was called.

The meeting, open to the public, will be held in the Board Chambers, located on the first floor of the Brevard County Government Center, at 2725 Judge Fran Jamieson Way in Viera.
