BREVARD COUNTY • WEST MELBOURNE, FLORIDA — The West Melbourne Police Department’s devoted crossing guards completed their annual safety training, reaffirming their commitment to the well-being of the community’s youngest members.
Among those leading the charge are Emily and Deb, two standout members of the team whose bright smiles are often the first friendly faces students see as they begin their school day.
Their energy, care, and consistency have earned them not only the appreciation of parents and teachers but also the admiration of their fellow officers.
“Our crossing guards are more than just part-time staff, they’re guardians of safety and part of our school family,” said a department spokesperson. “Emily and Deb exemplify what it means to serve with heart.”
The West Melbourne Police Department reminds drivers that school starts August 11, and with it comes increased pedestrian traffic in school zones. Drivers are urged to stay alert, slow down, and obey all traffic laws, especially when children are present.
As always, the department remains focused on fostering a safe environment for students, and thanks to the efforts of individuals like Emily and Deb, the journey to and from school will be just a little bit safer and a lot more welcoming.
