BREVARD COUNTY • WEST MELBOURNE, FLORIDA — The West Melbourne Police Department announced its upcoming Citizens Police Academy, a unique opportunity for residents to gain a firsthand look into the inner workings of the department.
Have you ever wondered what it’s like to work at the West Melbourne Police Department or how your police department operates day to day? Here’s your chance to find out.
This six-week program will run from September 4 to October 9, held on Thursday evenings from 6 to 9 p.m.
Participants will meet the dedicated men and women behind the badge and explore a variety of topics, including patrol operations, investigations, traffic enforcement, specialty units, and more.
The Citizens Police Academy is designed to foster a stronger relationship between the department and the community, providing transparency and education about law enforcement practices.
Applications are now being accepted, with a deadline of August 22. Space is limited, so early submission is encouraged.
Eligibility Requirements
● Must be a resident of West Melbourne
● Must be at least 18 years of age
● Must complete and pass a background screening
