BREVARD SHERIFF’S OFFICE HOLDS 13TH ANNUAL THANKSGIVING TURKEY BOWL FLAG FOOTBALL GAME
BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Well, folks, another one is in the record books, and this one was a doozy, as over 150 BCSO family members either played in or spectated during the BCSO 13th Annual Thanksgiving Morning “Turkey Bowl” Flag Football Game.
The annual Thanksgiving Day event held at Viera High School pits our Command Team combined with our SWAT Team members against me and the rest of our agency in a fun-filled, but highly competitive, Flag Football Game.
While the last couple of years have seen the agency-wide team, better known as the “Stargazers,” literally run away with the coveted “Turkey Bowl” trophy, this year had a much different result, as the “Allstars” regained the title with the final score of 34-28.
Of course, it helped that for the first two possessions, former Pro Quarterback Doug Flutie (and member of the Space Coast Sports Hall of Fame) joined the “Allstars” team, giving them a quick 12-point lead, but even after he left the game, the “Stargazers,” while making it extremely competitive, just couldn’t overcome the deficit.

In the end, it was a great game that at times could have gone either way, but this year’s trophy went home with the “Allstars” as the Command Team and their buddies from our amazing SWAT Team regained the coveted title.
In all seriousness, folks, this is what friendship, team unity, and all-around fun truly look like, and I could not be more proud of our agency for all they do, as they work side by side to keep our community safe.
When people ask me what I am thankful for, it’s simple…I am thankful to be part of one of the most professional agencies in the country that is comprised of 1,700 incredible men and women who put their lives on the line each and every day to keep their community safe.
A special thank you to Deputy Vinny Marino-Vitani for volunteering to referee today’s game, and also Viera High School for letting us use their field once again, so we could have some good ole’ fashioned BCSO fun!
