The Brevard County Sheriff’s Office Animal Services Unit is a vital part of the county’s efforts to protect animals and ensure their well-being.
Comprising skilled investigators, animal enforcement officers, and a compassionate animal care center team, the unit addresses animal complaints across the entire county. Their responsibilities extend beyond enforcement, as they also provide shelter and care for homeless pets.

In addition to their hands-on work in the field and at the care center, the team manages pet licensing records and serves as a community resource hub. They connect residents with rescues, wildlife facilities, and other organizations across the county and state to ensure animals receive proper assistance.
The Animal Services Unit operates administrative offices in both Viera and Melbourne, open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and closed on weekends and major holidays.
Through their dedication and community outreach, these professionals work every day to ensure the safety, welfare, and humane treatment of animals throughout Brevard County.
Their mission underscores the importance of protecting those who cannot speak for themselves, reminding residents that not all victims can dial 911 and encouraging the public to report suspected animal abuse by calling 321-633-2024.
