Brevard Libraries Celebrate Record-Breaking Growth in Digital Use, Users Borrowed Over a Million Items

Brevard Library System strives to meet users where they are with 18 physical locations

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Brevard County Libraries experienced record digital checkouts in 2025. This year’s Library Lookback shows that checkouts grew by 10 percent on Libby (the Overdrive App) and 60 percent on hoopla.

Users borrowed over a million items on the two major platforms for ebooks, eaudiobooks, and streaming movie/tv content.

In 2025, 33,481 unique users checked out items on Libby, and 6,290 unique users checked out on hoopla in 2025.
What did users check out?

Libby users borrowed some of this year’s hottest titles, including:

• Onyx Storm by Rebecca Yarros
• The Housemaid by Freida McFadden
• The Women by Kristin Hannah
• The Let Them Theory by Mel Robbins

Hoopla users borrowed thousands of audiobooks, graphic novels, and videos. This year’s favorites include:

• Sunrise on the Reaping by Suzanne Collins
• Hallmark Channel movies
• Acorn TV favorites like Father Brown and Doc Martin
• Favorite children’s titles include the Dog Man series by Dav Pilkey, Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling, and novels by Raina Telgemeier.

The Brevard County Library System strives to meet users where they are with 18 physical locations and a strong online digital presence.

A library card allows users to check out digital resources at any time. In addition, there are many other vetted, valuable resources available, such as LinkedIn Learning, Rosetta Stone, the Wall Street Journal, Peterson’s Test Prep, and the Southeast Newspaper Collection.

In addition to digital resources, Brevard County Libraries offer so much more. At the local Library, users can find books, DVDs, the Library of Things, and children’s items, plus educational and fun programming for all ages. Check out Brevard County Libraries in person or online, and join the 1.6 million Library visitors in 2025 who checked out a total of 4.6 million items last fiscal year.
