BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – As you may have heard it’s a brand new year, but our mottos here at the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office aren’t changing, and clearly David Harvey didn’t get the memo.

We know that because recently when Deputy Rowell was out conducting proactive patrols he located a vehicle on a dirt trail at a construction site. When he approached the vehicle he made contact with the driver, David Harvey, who was sitting in the vehicle with a .22 caliber rifle on the passenger seat.

Deputy Rowell asked Harvey why he was on the property and Harvey told him he was hunting and had no other purpose on the construction site. Well the fun didn’t stop there because Harvey is a convicted felon, and that little addition to his resume prohibits him from owning or possessing a firearm.

Now while that right there was enough to get ol’ Harvey a stay at the exclusive “Ivey’s Iron Bar Lodge,” it also qualified him for a probable cause search of his vehicle.

As you might imagine, what was found during the search earned him a few extra amenities at the lodge, as Deputies found approximately 13g of methamphetamine and glass smoking pipes.

Ultimately Harvey was charged with armed trespassing, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia and is on No Bond.

Great job by Deputy Rowell for his work on this case and for all he does for our agency and community.

Folks, if you didn’t get the message the first time here it is again…if you break the law in Brevard County, we promise we will find you and put you where you belong, right behind bars at Ivey’s Iron Bar Lodge.
