UF/IFAS Brevard County Extension Offers February Cooking & Food Preservation Classes

February includes cooking series focused on heart and bone health and canning workshops

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – The UF/IFAS Brevard County Extension is offering a variety of hands-on cooking and food-preservation classes this February, designed to help community members build practical skills, improve their health, and gain confidence in the kitchen. With limited class sizes, participants are encouraged to register early.
The February lineup includes multi-week cooking series focused on heart and bone health, as well as popular canning workshops that teach safe, simple food-preservation techniques. All classes are led by knowledgeable instructors and emphasize evidence-based nutrition education in a welcoming, hands-on environment.
Upcoming February Classes
Mediterranean Cooking Class Series – “Med Instead of Meds” – This six-week series introduces heart-healthy Mediterranean eating habits that participants can incorporate into their everyday lives. The class runs from February 12 to March 19, with sessions available at 2 p.m. or 6 p.m. Register for the 6-Week Course: Med Instead of Meds.
6-Week Bone Health Cooking Series-Participants will learn about key nutrients that support strong bones while enjoying practical, approachable healthy eating tips. The class runs from February 26 to April 2, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Register for Cooking to Build Your Bones 6-Week Class.
Hands-On Canning Classes
These interactive workshops teach safe food-preservation methods and allow participants to create and take home their own preserved foods. All supplies are included. Space is limited to eight participants per class. Our next three are:
Canning 101-February 17, 2026, at 10:00 AM. Register for Canning 101.
Jams & Jellies-February 17, 2026, at 6:00 PM. Register for Jams & Jellies.
Pickling-February 21, 2026, at 9:00 AM. Register for Pickling.
All classes will be held at the UF/IFAS Brevard County Extension Office, located at 3695 Lake Drive in Cocoa.
These classes are ideal for anyone interested in learning new skills, improving their health, and connecting with others in the community. Due to limited space, early registration is strongly encouraged.
