Writer and photographer John M. Egan is a Philadelphia native. He served in the U.S. Air Force for four years and his first assignment was at Patrick Air Force Base, where he worked in communications with the early space programs of Mercury and Gemini. After his military service, he followed in his father’s footsteps with a career in law enforcement, first with the Philadelphia Police Department and later the Federal Drug Enforcement Administration Task Force, amassing more than 33 years experience in patrol, narcotics and federal investigations. In 2005, John settled in Satellite Beach and has worked as a freelance photographer and writer covering youth sports and other topics.
