Eastern Florida State College Softball Team Powers Way to Two Wins on Road

Titans improve to 9-1 on the season

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – The Eastern Florida State College softball team dominated a doubleheader with Florida Gateway on Tuesday afternoon.
The Titans went on the road and picked up a couple of wins, 17-1 and 19-4 to improve to 9-1 on the season.
And in Game 1 the Titans got things going early with the long ball as Avery Velazquez and her sister Madison Velazquez each hit two-run home runs and then Kerissa Howell hit her first of two home runs to take a 5-0 lead in the first inning.
An Annalyn Duncan two-run single highlighted a three run second inning and then the Titans scored four more runs in the fourth inning.
Howell’s second home run of the game made it 17-0.
Florida Gateway scored a run in the fifth to get on the board but Isabella Rosales had another strong outing for the Titans, striking out three and allowing just four hits over five innings.
Howell finished with three hits and drove in three runs while Madison Velazquez drove in five runs.
In Game 2, Avery Velazquez hit a grand slam in the fifth inning and finished with two hits as the Titans finished Game 2 with 19 runs on 15 hits.
Isabel Otero finished with three hits and drove in four runs while Annalyn Duncan also had three hits and four RBI.
Hannah Davis picked up the win, allowing two earned runs over five innings.
Haley Marker drove in all four runs for Florida Gateway.
Eastern Florida State College will be back at Titan Softball Complex next Tuesday afternoon for a doubleheader against the Florida State College at Jacksonville. The first game begins at 2 p.m. and admission to games at Titan Softball Complex are free.
