BREVARD COUNTY • COCOA, FLORIDA –Brevard  County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a Cocoa man and charged him with First Degree Felony Murder and Aggravated Child Abuse.

Charles Leroy Foster of 5255 Burgess Avenue in Cocoa, 23, was arrest for an incident Monday where a 2-year-old girl he was caring for received severe head trauma.

The child was airlifted to Arnold Palmer Children’s Hospital in Orlando where she died Thursday as a result of her injuries after being removed from life support.

Foster is currently being held at the Brevard County Detention Center on no bond.

Sheriff’s investigators said that Foster, who has provided care for the victim on previous occasions, was caring for the victim, along with other children, when he became frustrated with the girl and allegedly threw her against a bed.

During the incident, the girl suffered severe head trauma.

He has been confined to the Brevard County Jail since being arrested the night of the incident for aggravated child abuse.

The charges were upgraded today to the current charges after an arrest warrant was issued based on the fact the child had died as a direct result of Foster’s actions.
