Eastern Florida’s Women’s Tennis Wins First-Ever Spring Match

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA — Eastern Florida State College successfully launched its women’s tennis program on Saturday defeating nationally seventh-ranked Florida State College Jacksonville 6-3 at the Jimmy Moore tennis courts in Melbourne.

Eastern Florida, ranked 16th nationally based on its fall season, got singles wins from freshman Isabella Sella and sophomore captain Kalia Cochran. Sella and Cochran teamed for a doubles victory as did sophomore Kasey Love and freshman Hope Fellows.

Eastern Florida’s team of freshmen Laura Gorski and Erica Nielsen won their doubles match by default as Nielsen did her singles match since FSCJ only brought five players.

Love, Fellows and Gorski lost their singles matches.

The Florida College System Activities Association victory gave Eastern Florida a 1-0 record for its inaugural spring championship season. Next up for the Titans is a Feb. 16 FCSAA match at Hillsborough Community College.

The Titans next home match is 1 p.m. Feb. 28 against FCSAA foe Florida State College Manatee-Sarasota. Admission to matches at the Moore courts is free.

Eastern Florida Baseball Wins 11-2

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA —Eastern Florida’s baseball team defeated Elve8 Academy 11-2 on Saturday at Bruce Bochy Field on the Melbourne Campus.

Eastern Florida improved to 2-3 on the young season as it out hit the visitors 7-4.

Christian Diaz went 2-for-5 with a home run for Eastern Florida while Alessandro Lima went 2-for-3 with two runs batted in.

Right-hander Dulvis Boras got the win for Eastern Florida. Lefty Nick Sucarichi pitched four innings in relief allowing one hit and striking out two. Righties Alex Lamrouex pitched two innings recording four strikeouts and Chayce Hubbard recorded two strikeouts in one inning of work.

Next up for Eastern Florida is a 5 p.m. Monday game at Florida State College Jacksonville. The Titans return home to face Lake-Sumter State College at 5 p.m. Wednesday. Admission is free.

Eastern Florida Women Win Their Fifth Game of the Year

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA — Eastern Florida’s women’s basketball team won its fifth game of the season on Saturday downing Broward College 76-71 in Davie.

Freshman Jessica Doyle led the way for the Titans with 32 points on 7-of-12 from the three-point line. Classmate Rachelle Aupont scored 24 points on 10-for-16 shooting. She also grabbed 17 rebounds for her sixth double-double in the last seven games.

Eastern Florida led at halftime 38-27 as it improved to 5-20 overall and 2-9 in the Florida College System Activities Association Southern Conference.

Broward fell to 2-20 and 1-10.

Next up for Eastern Florida is a 5:30 p.m. Tuesday visit to first-place Palm Beach State in Lake Worth. The Titans return home for a 2 p.m. Friday non-conference game against Trinity Baptist.
