Alaska Marine Safety Is Offering 10-hour Fishing Vessel Drill Conductor Workshop

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – The Alaska Marine Safety Education Association (AMSEA) will offer a 10-hour Fishing Vessel Drill Conductor workshop in Cocoa, Florida on Tuesday, October 20 from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.

The workshop will be conducted at the Coast Guard Auxiliary Building, Lee Wenner Park, 300 Riveredge Blvd.

This workshop is an excellent opportunity for commercial fishermen and other mariners to gain hands-on training with marine safety equipment and learn best practices for surviving emergencies at sea.

This workshop covers emergency drills; EPIRBs, flares, and maydays; man-overboard recovery and firefighting; immersion suits and PFDs, helicopter rescue, life rafts, abandon ship procedures, and cold-water survival skills.

AMSEA’s Drill Conductor workshops meets the U.S. Coast Guard training requirements for Drill Conductors on documented commercial fishing vessels operating beyond the federal boundary line.

This workshop is offered to commercial fishermen at a reduced cost of $50, thanks to support from the National Institute for Occupational Safety & Health.

The cost is $175 for all others. Interested mariners may register online at amsea.org or call 907-747-3287.
