Brevard County Sheriff Wayne Ivey Delivers Special Mother’s Day Message

Message from Sheriff Wayne Ivey
BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – On behalf of our entire agency, myself and of course Junny, we want to wish Moms throughout Brevard County, a very happy Mother’s Day.
As Mother’s Day begins I am reminded of just how blessed I am to have a mom that dedicated her entire life to her children and the many sacrifices she made to put me and my two brothers first in her life.
As I always tell everyone…”I was never worried about the Sheriff where I grew up because my mom was the Chief Law Enforcement Officer in my life!!” My mom was the Sheriff, Judge, and Executioner in our home and mom didn’t play when it came to keeping her three boys in line.
Mom was firm, fair, and fast in her corrective action and to be quite honest, I still worry about her getting on me today if I mess up!! Mom was also the person who taught me to be respectful, to be grateful, and to hit my knees each night to thank God for my many blessings.
While there were times I hated how mom never let me out of her sight, today I realize that my mom had wisdom beyond her years!! I realize that all my mom truly wanted in life was for me and my two brothers to be safe, have strong work ethic, have compassion for others, and have respect for both ourselves and those around us.
My mom has dedicated her entire life to me and my two less good looking brothers and I bet if you asked her today, she would say that she would do it all over again the same exact way.
While I’m pretty sure that at times we let her down and disappointed her, I’m also certain that she is proud of her three boys and hopefully she knows how proud of her we truly are.
In essence, my mom is a huge part of the reason I am the person I am today and I bet your mom is too!! So today, make sure you tell every mom, stepmom, bonus mom, teacher mom, and all of the moms in your life, how much they mean to you and the impact they’ve had on your life and celebrate them to the fullest.
