BREVARD COUNTY • VIERA, FLORIDA – The Brevard County Manatees are pleased to announce the promotion of Chad Lovitt to the position of General Manager.

Having previously held the position of Assistant General Manager, Lovitt has been a full-time member of the organization since January 2012.

“I am excited to accept the General Manager’s role with the Brevard County Manatees.” Lovitt said.

“Since I arrived with the Manatees I have seen the hard work that Kyle has put in as General Manager. I look forward to building on his success.”

Lovitt will take over General Manager duties from Kyle Smith, who will be stepping down after eight years in the position.

“I will be forever thankful to the Manatees ownership and fans for their support over the last eight seasons,” Smith said.

“I could not have asked to be surrounded by better people than I have had at Space Coast Stadium. Even though I was born and raised in Minnesota, Brevard County is home to the Smith Family.”

Smith will be leaving the club to accept a new opportunity, but will remain in Brevard County and will assist the club in its transition.

“While we were sad to see Kyle Smith depart for a great opportunity, we are delighted to have current Assistant GM Chad Lovitt assume the role of Manatees General Manager,” Manatees President Charlie Baumann said.

“Chad has been with the organization for several years and is ready to assume the lead role and the responsibilities that go with it.”

Lovitt has worked his way up through the Manatees front office, this being his second promotion with the team in four years.

“Chad is a rising star in sports executive circles and will lead the Sea Cows into a very successful 2016,” said Smith.

“I’m incredibly proud to have had him as my Assistant GM and couldn’t be happier for him.”

Originally a Box Office Assistant in 2011, Lovitt returned to the Manatees as a full-time member of the staff and Director of Ticket Sales in January 2012.

After the season in October of that year, he was promoted to Assistant General Manager. In addition to his time with Brevard County, Lovitt also spent time with the Tampa Bay Rays in 2009 and with the Bowling Green Hot Rods in 2011.
