BREVARD COUNTY • COCOA, FLORIDA – Cocoa Police have arrested four more suspects for soliciting prostitution on Thursday.
Police say they conducted a daylong special enforcement operation Thursday targeting solicitation of prostitution.
The following suspects were arrested for solicitation of prostitution:
• 50-year-old James Edward Kemp
• 53-year-old Anthony Torbert
• 31-year-old Ricardo Emanuel Holmes
• 51-year-old Theodore Oliver Hicks
Thursday’s undercover operation is the second operation within a week when police arrested six suspects last Friday on Peachtree Street and Blake Avenue.
“On Thursday, an undercover officer acted as a prostitute working in the area of Peachtree Street and Fiske Boulevard,” said Yvonne Martinez of the Cocoa Police Department.
“Each of the male suspects at different times throughout the day approached and arranged to pay for sex.”
The special enforcement is in response to citizen complaints about prostitution and other criminal activity in the area. The targeted enforcement will continue on a random basis indefinitely and as resources allow.
Cocoa Police Chief Mike Cantaloup issued a statement last Friday that police would continue proactive enforcement on prostitution.
“We will be conducting proactive enforcement targeting this type of activity for the foreseeable future,” said Chief Mike Cantaloupe.
“If you are looking for it, the odds of getting arrested in Cocoa are now exponentially higher.”
