Eastern Florida State Men’s, Women’s Tennis Teams Named to ITA All-Academic Team

The men's and women's tennis teams will begin practice for the fall season on Sept. 5.

The Eastern Florida State College men’s and women’s tennis teams were named to the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Junior College Tennis All-Academic teams.

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – The Eastern Florida State College men’s and women’s tennis teams were named to the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Junior College Tennis All-Academic teams.

The men’s tennis team is one of just 16 junior college teams in the country to be named to the All-Academic team and the only team in the state of Florida.

The women’s tennis team is one of just 17 junior college teams in the country to be named to the All-Academic team and the only team in the state of Florida.

To be named an All-Academic team the team must have a 3.2 grade point average or higher and played during the current academic year.

Sophomore Frederik Oervad and freshman Tomas Reche were both named scholar-athletes by the ITA for having grade point averages above 3.5 for the academic year.

Overall 68 junior college men’s tennis players were named scholar-athletes by the ITA.

Freshmen Ivett Castaneda, Julie Martincova, Rachel Weaver, and Martina Garcia were all named scholar-athletes by the ITA. In total, 85 junior college women’s tennis players were named scholar-athletes.

The men’s and women’s tennis teams will begin practice for the fall season on Sept. 5.
