For Miami Heat, High Hopes but Lower Volume

The official restart of the Miami Heat begins on Sunday with far less noise than a year ago, when a team constructed on superstar intrigue evoked breathless predictions and sputtering vitriol in equal measure.

Lest the legion of Heat haters forget, Miami fell only two games short of winning last season’s N.B.A. championship. Now LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, Chris Bosh and a supporting cast are back, claiming that the new version is a stronger, a wiser and, yes, a better group after last season’s lesson-learning.
