TITUSVILLE, FLORIDA – The 37th annual Indian River Festival is set for MAY 3-6, 2012. The Indian River Festival is a Brevard County, Florida celebration and tradition dating back to the 1970s. The festival grounds are located on a scenic 20 acres along the beautiful Indian River Lagoon, directly across from Kennedy Space Center atSandpoint Park.

More than 200 thrill rides, amusement games, exhibits, free shows and food stands will be included in 37TH ANNUAL INDIAN RIVER FESTIVAL in Brevard County, Florida. The festival will run for 4 fun-filled days, May 3-6 at the 20-acre Sand Point Park on U.S 1, just north of Garden Street in Historic Downtown Titusville.
The Indian River Festival which turns 37 years old this year is the longest running festival of its kind in Brevard County, Florida. The festival grounds are located on a scenic 20 acres along the beautiful Indian River Lagoon, directly across from Kennedy Space Center at Sandpoint Park.

SWEET PEA BEAUTY PAGEANT

The festival kicks off Thursday, May 3 with a Coca-Cola Grand Opening, offering free entertainment and free unlimited rides for only $10 admission. There will be a SWEET PEA BEAUTY PAGEANT starting at 6 pm in the Pavilion.

Presented by the Titusville Area Chamber of Commerce, this event showcases all that is Titusville.

The Indian River Festival attracts people from all over Central Florida who enjoy family-oriented entertainment, cultural enrichment opportunities, recreation activities and a sense of community spirit.

KAYAK FUN FLOAT

There will be all kinds of fun family activities including a Kayak Fun Float, organized by A Day Away Kayak Tours, so paddlers can explore the lagoon, local history, and water safety in a fun kayak adventure. The Kayak Fun Float will be held on Saturday, May 5th with the start and finish taking place from Parrish Park Beach (just east of the Marine Patrol building). Registration/Check-in begins at 9:00 am and the Kayaks will be in the water between 10 a.m. and 12 p.m.

The complete paddle is approximately 4 miles, with 4 stops included. Everyone that completes the paddle and activities at each stop will be entered in a drawing to win a FREE KAYAK valued at $500. The drawing will be held on the main stage at the festival at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday (in between the acts currently listed on the website). The entire “Kayak Fun Float” and kayak giveaway event is being coordinated and sponsored by A Day Away Kayak Tours.

SAIL BOAT RACE, SUN FISH REGATTA & KID’S FISHING CONTEST

There will be a Sailboat Race and Sunfish Regatta, organized and sponsored by the Titusville Sailing Club, a Kid’s Fishing Contest, organized by Anglers for Conservation and a special Car Show on the Point, and organized by the Titusville Youth Foundation.

GREAT BREVARD DUCK RACE

The Great Brevard Duck Race is the major annual fundraiser for Crosswinds Youth Services, Inc., a nonprofit organization in Cocoa, Florida. For further information about Crosswinds click here. People make donations to Crosswinds by “adopting” ducks for the Race. Crosswinds is dedicated to assisting young people who have experienced great challenges, such as abuse and neglect, delinquency, and other serious crisis situations.

The Indian River Fest will be open at 6pm on weekdays and at 12pm on Saturdays & Sundays. This year’s Indian River Fest will feature FREE UNLIMITED RIDES and FREE SHOWS with festival admission throughout the 4 day run.

The festival admission will be $10 on Thursday and Sunday or $12 on Friday through Saturday. This year, thanks to Brevard County’s Savings Safari, the price of the gate and unlimited rides have been combined to save people money in these tough economic times. The gate price is now just $10 or $12 which includes FREE unlimited rides and FREE entertainment.

AMAZING BIRD SHOW

Families won’t want to miss Larry’s Amazing Bird Show. The FREE show features rescued parrots performing amazing tasks and entertaining crowds of all ages. The parrots have performed world-wide in front of hundreds of thousands of spectators.

TORRES FAMILY CIRCUS

New this year is the FREE Torres Family Circus presented by Brevard Physicians Network and Space Coast Medicine which takes place at the Circus Arena next to the pavilion. Get ready to be entertained by dancing dogs, acrobatic jugglers, high wire performers and the crowd favorite-GLOBE OF DEATH where two fast dueling motorcycles simultaneously race inside the 20ft enclosed metal globe.

BEER & WINE GARDEN

The Miller Lite & Coors Lite BEER and WINE GARDEN will be the site of many great musical entertainers during the Indian River Fest. With such a great variety of highly talented performers on the Space Coast, there will be over 14 performances in the beer garden ranging from country to good old-fashioned rock n’ roll. The community stage will feature all facets of local community entertainment.

DELICIOUS INTERNATIONAL & FAIR FOOD

The variety of food is also a tremendous attraction to this world renowned Indian River Festival. The vast menu of delicious international and great fair foods that await guests ranges from German bratwurst, smoked turkey legs to Hot Roasted Corn to Italian sausage. Great desserts like strawberry shortcake, cotton candy, deep fried OREO cookies, and everyone’s festival favorite “funnel cakes” will also be served. Last year over 9,123 funnel cakes were eaten.

EAST COAST EXTREME MOTOCROSS STUNT SHOW

Some more of the exciting FREE shows are the EAST COAST EXTREME MOTOCROSS STUNT SHOW during the Festival. On Friday, April 8, the dare-devil motocross stunt riders of EAST COAST EXTREME will take to the air in a spectacular display of aerial big air jumps and awe-inspiring acrobatic moves.

HOT DOG EATING CONTEST

On Saturday at 3pm, local restaurants sponsor the HOT DOG EATING CONTEST and Pie Eating Contest at the community stage. In appreciation of all Brevard County, City and Government workers, admission into the Indian River Festival will be only $9 per person with valid ID on Sunday, May 6th.
