BREVARD COUNTY • INDIAN HARBOUR BEACH, FLORIDA –It’s hard to believe that 50 years have passed since the In-Har-Bee Garden Club was launched with a group of 13 original members.
On Wednesday, club member and master gardener Eveyln Franks will offer a special garden ornament presentation to anyone who wishes to attend at the Indian Harbour Beach Community Services Center..
Over the years the club has grown, although just one founding member – Martha Maroska – remains an active club member.
Other club members with more than 30 years of participation include Irma Dubowsky, Dodie Zenger and Barbara Mroczkoski.
Last month, In-Har-Bee members gathered for an anniversary celebration at the Indian Harbour Beach Recreation Center.
At the event club members were welcomed by Indian Harbor Beach mayor and keynote speaker Gene Newberry and participated in some fun flower arranging taught to them by floral designers from throughout Florida.
To kick off its 51st year, In-Har-Bee members also took a trip in March to the Brevard Zoo to learn about oyster mat making and restoration.
Club members also enjoyed the group’s April 11 meeting, when In-Har-Bee member Jane Mandeville led a class focusing on the care of hibiscus.
The public is welcome to attend any club meetings, which are held at the Indian Harbour Beach Community Services Center.
