BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – The Melbourne Police Department’s Sgt. Cyril Hopping tracked down and arrested John Allen Granger of Melbourne in connection with multiple armed robberies in Brevard County.

Granger

Granger, 53, is suspected of holding up Walmart, Publix and TD Bank. He was charged by the cops with two counts of armed robbery, one count of attempted armed robbery and one count of false imprisonment, according to Melbourne PD officals. The suspect displayed a knife at TD Bank and Walmart – and showed a handgun to rob Publix.

Hopping did some stellar police work as he nabbed Granger after spotting him as a passenger in a passing car in the vicinity of Wisteria Avenue and Cherry Street. Hopping then pulled over the vehicle and Granger bolted from the scene yelling, “You’ll have to shoot me!” He did not display a weapon.

Undeterred, Hopping chased Granger down, tased him, and slapped the cuffs on.

According to the clerk of courts, Granger is a convicted felon. He was charged with attempted first-degree murder with a firearm in Osceola County in 2007 and found guilty of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, grand theft of a firearm and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
