BREVARD COUNTY • PALM BAY, FLORIDA – Police are investigating the death of a driver who crashed his pickup truck on Babcock Street early Thursday morning.

The pickup was headed north on Babcock approaching Fallon Boulevard when it hit the curb and a mailbox then crossed over a median and smashed into a vehicle traveling southbound on Babcock Street.

The Nissan Titan eventually landed near a house on Omega Street, Martinez said.

Palm Bay Police spokesman Yvonne Martinez said the 51-year-old man, who has not been identified pending notification of next of kin, sustained some sort of medical problem before the crash.

“It appears the driver may have experienced some unknown medical condition that may have caused the crash,” Martinez said. “The actual cause of death is unknown at this time.”

Rescue personnel transported the driver to Palm Bay Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
