For a good cause

BREVARD COUNTY • VIERA, FLORIDA  – Divine Mercy Radio’s Benefit Golf Tournament is coming up fast and organizers continue to seek participants that love golf and want to help support WDMC AM 920 Catholic radio.

The tourney will be held May 19 at Baytree National Golf Links in Suntree.

“Our church, St John’s the Evangelist, has been extremely helpful in promoting this event by displaying the particulars of the golf tournament on their overhead projector before each mass and also in the Sunday bulletins,” said Tom McCahill.

“I understand that other churches in the area have also followed suit.”

He said WDMC is very grateful for the permission and generosity St John’s has given them by doing this.

“We are no longer living in the 50s or the 60s,” McCahill said. “Catholic Radio is a very powerful tool and whether or not any of us play golf, we should all recognize how lucky we are to have this Catholic radio station available to us. Any support at all would be very beneficial.”

The tournament features door prizes and individual hole sponsors, but McCahill said more sponsors are needed.

“We have enough volunteers for the day of this event, but we could also use volunteers for other purposes, such as finding businesses that could donate promotional items for the goody-bags and/or finding prize donors or hole sponsors,” he said.

“Please help keep this radio station afloat and enable WDMC AM 920 to continue to spread the word of God. The more success WDMC has, the more success new Catholic radio stations across the land will have. Let’s leave something for our children to listen to.”

McCahill said time is of the essence to help the event succeed in every way.

“This is the first annual event and we’re hoping that each year after, the donations and tournament will grow in popularity,” he said.

“Catholic radio is a needed voice within today’s world and all Catholics should support it in any way they can.”

He stressed that Catholic radio has the capability of informing all Catholics in Brevard about any relevant subject instantaneously.

“Catholic radio, outside of our Church, should be the greatest friend we have,” McCahill said.

“Please help keep this radio station afloat and enable WDMC AM 920 to continue to spread the word of God. The more success WDMC has, the more success new Catholic radio stations across the land will have. Let’s leave something for our children to listen to.”
