Back-to-School Countdown Begins: Brevard Public Schools Returns Aug. 10

Winter Break is Dec. 21, 2026, through Jan. 4, 2027

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA — Summer may be flying by, but the countdown is officially on. There are now only four Mondays remaining before Brevard Public Schools welcomes students back for the start of the 2026-27 school year.

The first day of school is Monday, Aug. 10, and district officials are encouraging families to save the school calendar now and begin planning for the year ahead, including vacations, appointments and back-to-school shopping.

The 2026-27 calendar includes several extended breaks and long weekends for students throughout the school year.

Key Dates for the 2026-27 School Year

First Day of School

  • Monday, Aug. 10, 2026

Three-Day Weekends

  • Labor Day: Sept. 5-7, 2026

  • Teacher Work Day: Sept. 25-27, 2026

  • Teacher Work Day: Oct. 10-12, 2026

  • Martin Luther King Jr. Day: Jan. 16-18, 2027

  • Teacher Work Day: Feb. 13-15, 2027

Additional Holiday

  • Veterans Day: Wednesday, Nov. 11, 2026

Thanksgiving Break

  • Nov. 23-27, 2026

  • Students return Monday, Nov. 30

Winter Break

  • Dec. 21, 2026, through Jan. 4, 2027

  • Students return Tuesday, Jan. 5

  • (Jan. 4 is a workday for 12-month employees.)

Spring Break

  • March 19-26, 2027

  • Students return Monday, March 29

  • (March 19 is a teacher workday.)
