FOP, AFL-CIO Endorse Alvarez for State Rep

BREVARD COUNTY • PALM BAY, FLORIDA – John Paul Alvarez, a Palm Bay resident, educator, UCF alumni, and candidate for State Representative House District 53 (south Brevard), proudly accepts the endorsement of the Palm Bay Police – Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 111.
Alvarez also welcomes both statewide and local Space Coast endorsements from the AFL-CIO.
He has previously been endorsed by the Brevard Federation of Teachers and Palm Bay Professional Firefighters Local 2446.
These endorsements reflect Alvarez’s clear commitment to the residents of Palm Bay and greater Brevard County, their jobs, their safety and their quality of life.
“It is an honor to receive the endorsements and backing of local and statewide organizations, specifically early in the election cycle and before the Democratic Primary,” said Alvarez.
“It shows that they believe in my message of job creation, education reforms, and protecting citizens from unfair taxes and unfair insurance rate hikes.”
Lin Badman from the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 111 wrote in his endorsement letter that, “the board unanimously voted to endorse your candidacy for State Representative.”
Badman further stated that she was pleased by this unanimous decision.
Alvarez has, “demonstrated an understanding of the values, issues and concerns of working women and men” of Brevard County, according to Claudie Pouncey of the AFL/CIO.
This bipartisan support marks a change in the county’s values towards a desire for an independent voice to represent them in the Florida Legislature.
Alvarez, a Democrat, is running in the newly drawn Florida House District 53, which is essentially the Brevard County south of US-192 until the Indian River county line.
It is a democratic-leaning seat with no incumbent.
