Construction is wrapping up at Wakit Rakit’s new courts inside the historic La Cita Country Club. The Grand Opening is a few weeks away — but locals can get on court now through “Intro to Padel” classes during the soft launch.

BREVARD COUNTY • TITUSVILLE, FLORIDA — The most addictive and fastest-growing sport in the world is about to have a home on Florida’s Space Coast as construction is nearing completion on Wakit Rakit Titusville, the first padel club in Brevard County, built inside the historic La Cita Country Club at 778 Country Club Drive.

If you haven’t heard of padel yet, you will. It’s a doubles racquet sport played on an enclosed court about a third the size of a tennis court, with glass walls, and you can play off like squash.

It takes about ten minutes to learn and roughly a lifetime to master. Tennis and pickleball players love it too — the crossover is instant.

Worldwide, there are more than 35 million players across 130-plus countries. The United States went from fewer than 30 courts in 2020 to over 1,000 by 2026 — and padel is expected to debut as an Olympic sport in 2032.

Until now, none of those courts were in Brevard. That changes here.

Wakit Rakit’s two new padel courts join four Har-Tru clay tennis courts and two indoor racquetball courts at the historic La Cita Country Club — and for the first time, the doors are open to everyone.

What was a members-only club is now Titusville’s public racquet-sports hub: mature grounds, a real clubhouse, and the first padel courts in town.

“Padel is a very social sport, and Wakit Rakit leans into that. Socials, beginner nights, Intro to Padel classes, leagues, and lots more mean that locals can come by themselves or in a group and be guaranteed to leave with new friends,” said Ryan Higgins, CEO of Wakit Rakit.

In addition to being super fun, padel is also good for you. Research links racket sports to 9.7 additional years of life expectancy1 and 47% lower all-cause mortality2 — ahead of running, cycling, and swimming.

“Young and old love padel,” said Andres “Tito” Moreno, Wakit Rakit’s Director of Padel and a U.S. Olympic padel team hopeful.

“It’s played on turf, so it’s good for the joints, it’s aerobic and gets your heart rate up, and because of the walls, the points last longer and are more interesting.”

Space Coast residents don’t have to wait for the grand opening to play. During the soft launch, Wakit Rakit is running “Intro to Padel” classes — 90 minutes, zero experience needed, rackets and balls provided.
