Competition Heats Up For Little League All-Stars

BREVARD COUNTY • MIMS, FLORIDA – Little League All-Stars action continued Sunday for both District 2 and District 22 squads with a bevy of close games under sunny skies.

In District 22 games at Holder Park in Mims, the early 9/10 division baseball game saw Port St. John beat Rockledge 17-7 in 5 innings. Nick Berry went 2-for-3 with 1 RBI and scored 2 runs for Rockledge.  Brandon Browning hit a 2-run homer, while Levi Moore and Richie Leonard both added RBI triples for Port St. John.  Richie Leonard’s triple plated the final run for Port St. John.

The late 9/10 game between Mims and Indian River City went 5 1/2 innings with Indian River City beating Mims 9-5.  IRC’s Braydon Chamberlain and Trey Felker hit triples while Gavin O’Brien and Hallie Blake kept the Mims team in the hunt with doubles.

The early 10/11 game at Holder Park was a hard-fought 6-inning contest between Rockledge and Mims.  Quincy Carter had a triple for Rockledge. Seth Lovell of Mims also had a triple. Daemon Woodruff of Mims drove in Ashton Beville for the game- winning run as Mims outlasted Rockledge 9-8.

In the later 10/11 game, Indian River City was defeated by Merritt Island 25-5 in 3 1/2 innings. Jalen Smith went 2-for-2 with a triple, a RBI and scored a run for Indian River City.  Eddie Kitta and Andrew Beardall had triples for Merritt Island.

In the Majors division at W.W. James Park in Titusville, Indian River City lost a close one to Mims 9-8 in 5 1/2 innings.  Mason Bollinger had 2 doubles and an RBI for Indian River City. Blake Newberry, Lee Reddick and Terrell Woodruff had doubles for Mims and Frankie Kuzwa added 3 RBI.

In the late Majors game Rockledge defeated Port St. John 14-7. Rockledge’s Alec Christian went 2-for-4 with a double and scored 2 runs to lift RLL to the win.  Port St. John’s Tommy Eberhardt hit a home run.

In Juniors division baseball at Holder Park, Merritt Island Senior’s All-Stars edged Mims 5-4 in 6 1/2 innings in he early game.  Matt Robertson hit an RBI double for Merritt Island.

The late Juniors game had Port St. John shutting out Indian River City 11-0 in 5 innings.

District 2

Play in the 9/10 and 10/11 All-Star baseball divisions continued at Rodes Park in West Melbourne on Sunday.

In 10/11 baseball Sunday, Palm Bay West shut out Eau Gallie Blue 14-0 in 4 innings.

In the other 10/11 District 2 game, Palm Bay East defeated Eau Gallie Gold 6-2 in 5.5 innings.

Four 9/10 All-Stars baseball games were played at Rodes Park on Sunday.

South Beaches knocked off Viera/Suntree Green 17-3 in 4 innings, while Eau Gallie Gold outslugged Viera/Suntree Blakc 20-12 in 6 innings.

Beachside topped Palm Bay West 22-20 in a 9/10 division 6-inning contest and Viera/Suntree Gold defeated Eau Galle Blue 11-7 in another 9/10 game.
