Deputies Charge Merritt Island Man With Murder

Taken Into Custody After Brief Standoff

BREVARD COUNTY • COCOA, FLORIDA – A suspect has been arrested following the shooting death of a Cocoa man on Merritt Island on Monday night.

Brevard County Sheriff’s Department public information officer Lt. Tod Goodyear said that  members of the GAMEOVER Task Force arrested Devonte Bradley of Merritt Island, 19, and charged him with first degree premeditated murder in the shooting death of Evander Tinsley of Cocoa.

Goodyear said that information received by the Task Force led them to a residence in  Cocoa where after after a brief standoff Thursday, Bradley surrendered without incident and was taken into custody.

He was taken to the Brevard County Jail and held on a no bond status.

Tinsley, 21, was gunned down while visiting a friend at the Tropical Major Apartments on Jordan Road on Monday night.
