Crews were dispatched to a burning two-story home at 6765 Las Pamos Drive in Grant-Valkaria at 3:14 a.m. Monday.

Lt. Jeff Taylor of Brevard County Fire Rescue said first-arriving units reported heavy fire and smoke conditions at the rear of the home with about 70 percent of the structure involved, prompting firefighters to set up defensive firefighting operations.

He said that the home was situated on a narrow roadway and there are no fire hydrants in the area.

Crews used a rotation of four water tenders to maintain a constant water supply to support firefighting operations.

Taylor said officials called for a second alarm to bring additional manpower to the scene and multiple hose lines are being used to apply water to the fire.

“Occupants of the home were able to exit safely,” Taylor said.

Multiple units were staged north of the area near Berry Street and Las Pamos Drive as crews worked to bring the fire under control.

Fire crews from Brevard County, Palm Bay Fire Department, Melbourne Fire Department and Indian River County Emergency Services responded to the scene of the fire.
