Margaret McManus Passes Away At 90

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Margaret A. (Peg) McManus, 90, formerly of Dellwood Rd, Worcester, MA, died on September 5, 2012. She was born in Worcester and lived there all her life until moving to Florida.

Peg was a graduate of South High School and the former Worcester City Hospital School of Nursing. She was a registered nurse and did private duty nursing for many years in area hospitals in Worcester.

Mrs. McManus served as Lieut. In the Navy Nurse Corps during World War II and again in the Korean Conflict.

She was a member of Christ the King Church and the City Hospital School of Nursing Alumni Association. She also belonged to the Friday Afternoon Club, The Worcester Women’s Club, The New England Retired Navy Nurse Corps Association, The Retired Officers Association and the American Association of Retired Persons. She was also a member of the Ascension Catholic Church Parish in Melbourne.

Peg enjoyed crafts and was an enthusiastic gardener.

Her husband of 47 years, Cornelius P. McManus, died in 1999, and her sister Marie died in 2004.

She leaves a son, Dr. James McManus of Satellite Beach, FL; two daughters, Aime McManus of Worcester and Margaret (Meg) McManus of Melbourne, FL, two grandsons and four granddaughters.

A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, September 15 at 11 a.m. at Ascension Catholic Church in Melbourne, FL. Burial will be in Saint John’s Cemetery in Worcester, Massachussetts.
