Panthers Sixth In Women’s Golf Tourney

DAYTONA BEACH, FLORIDA – Florida Tech sophomore Rachel Polson shot a tournament-best even par 72 Sunday in the NCAA Division II Fall Preview leading the Panthers to a sixth-place position after the first day of competition.

Polson recorded a 35 after the front nine to sit in a tie for second place, but shot a 37 on the back nine at the LPGA International course to move into a tie with two others for the lead.

Panthers senior Jessica Hook was the second best finisher for Florida Tech, coming in at a tie for 21st with a 78. Hook shot a 40 on the front nine and a 38 on the back.

Other top finishers for Florida Tech included Felicia Leftinger at a seven-over-par 79 and Jara’ Templet with an 80.

The three-day tournament will conclude Tuesday morning with play continuing today.
