Face Polk State Tuesday Night
BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – The Brevard Community College women’s soccer team shook off a slow start to defeat 2011 NJCAA Division I finalist and host Darton College 2-0 in Albany, Ga on Saturday.

BCC improved to 3-1 and now faces crucial Florida College System Activities Association matches at Polk State College in Auburndale on Tuesday night and at Broward College in Cooper City on Friday afternoon.
Those games, the first of six total, will determine whether BCC advances to the postseason leading to the national championship tournament on Nov. 11 to 17 at Melbourne Central Catholic.
Darton knocked BCC out of the postseason in 2011, handing the Titans a 2-1 defeat.
Leading scorer and forward sophomore Lois Edvardsson netted her fourth goal of the season to put BCC up 1-0 on Saturday on an assist from fellow sophomore Courtney Hueston. Freshman Melissa Williams scored BCC’s second goal – her first of the season – on an assist from sophomore and Merritt Island resident Chelsea Seng.
BCC head coach Jeff Carr credited Seng with creating a spark.
“We started out flat,” Carr said. “The girls picked it up and Chelsea Seng came off the bench and added a lot of energy, created a goal and caused a lot of havoc.”
Freshman goalkeeper Julia Kantor recorded two saves for BCC. Carr also credited defenders freshman Jess Fassnidge and sophomore Cat Hasell with superb efforts on the backline.
