Violin Virtuoso Performs In Cocoa Beach Tonight

BREVARD COUNTY • COCOA BEACH, FLORIDA – Russian-born Israeli violin virtuoso Dmitry Daniel Askerov will present a free concert of violin classics at Cocoa Beach’s Riverside Presbyterian Church on  Wednesday night.

Askerov will perform a 7 p.m. concert at the church at 3400 N. Atlantic Avenue in Cocoa Beach.

The concert will feature a wide variety of works including Bach’s lovely Partita No. 3, Tchaikovsky’s solemn Meditation in D minor, and Paganini’s demanding Caprices.

In addition, Askerov will delight audiences with Prokofiev’s Violin Sonata No. 2 and Ravel’s Tzigane.

Askerov, who has performed  at Carnegie Hall,  is a winner of multiple international awards and is considered one of Israel’s rising stars.

The free concert is sponsored by the Space Coast Symphony Orchestra and the symphony’s artistic director, Aaron T. Collins, said he is delighted to present Askerov to Brevard County audiences.

“Daniel is an amazing young talent,” said Collins.  “He will also be performing on our Christmas at the Movies concert, but audiences deserved the chance to witness his tremendous skills in a solo performance.”

Dmitry (Daniel) Askerov, was born in 1993 in Russia and arrived in Israel in 1995. He began studying violin at age 6 at the Beit-Shemesh Conservatory under Sofia Piknovsky.

Currently he is studying at the Academy of Music in Tel Aviv at the Buchmann Mehta School of Music with teacher Lena Mazor.

A laureate of the Maestro Competition, Tel Aviv (2000), and recipient of America-Israel Cultural Foundation awards, Dmitry won 2nd prize at the 2006 international “Remember Enescu” Violin competition, Romania, and was awarded a diploma at the New Names International competition, Russia in 2008.

He won 1st prize at the Chamber music competition of the Buchmann-Mehta School of Music in 2011 and this year he won the “Clairmont” competition in Israel.

Askerov will perform in Cocoa Beach with an Enrico Ceruti violin, on loan to him by Yehuda Zisapel.
