April is Esophageal Cancer Awareness Month

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Health First Medical Group will hold a seminar to educate people about the difference between heartburn, acid reflux and esophageal cancer.

Dr. Mark Fusco

The event is set for Saturday, April 13 from 9:30 a.m. – 11 a.m. at the Health First Medical Group Cancer Care Center, located at 1130 Hickory St. in Melbourne.

Hosted by Health First Medical Group’s Dr. Mark Fusco, this important event will also explore cancer prevention and new treatment options for acid reflux.

With cases of esophageal cancer on the rise, proper screening is more important than ever. In addition, the risk of esophageal cancer is increased in people who have chronic acid reflux. Chronic reflux can lead to a pre-cancerous condition known as Barrett’s esophagus.

Dr. Athan Kartsonis

Panelists will include: Dr. Mark Fusco – general surgeon, Health First Medical Group; Dr. Athan Kartsonis – gastroenterologist, Health First Medical Group; Kristine Van Workum – registered dietician; and Milton Arthur – esophageal cancer patient, who will offer his testimony and insight on his prevention and treatment.

Seating is limited – call 321-725-4500, ext. 7396 to reserve your space.
