Rodier was located in the area of Hallwood Place, and fled upon sight of the police – and was then pursued on foot to the area of the Henegar Center located at 625 E. New Haven Ave., where he was taken into custody.

SEVERAL CHARGES PENDING

The arrest came after Tuesday night’s incident when MPD officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of Cherry St. and SR-5. Rodier, according the MPD reports, appeared to be intoxicated and became aggressive and refused to abide the officer’s lawful commands.

Rodier attempted to flee the scene in his vehicle, and when the officers tried to stop him, he became increasingly more violent and a struggle ensued in which Rodier struck the officers several times. He also began to strike an unidentified female that was with him, and refused to let her out of the car. During the struggle, Rodier was able to again control of his vehicle and attempted to strike officers with the vehicle in an attempt to flee the scene. It was at this time that a pursuit was initiated.

While the vehicle was westbound on Melbourne Ave., it suddenly veered off to the left, struck a fence and continued through a yard until it finally came to rest by striking a residence located at 611 Melbourne Ave. Rodier then fled on foot.

The female passenger sustained injuries in the crash and is currently being treated at Holmes Regional Medical Center where she is in stable condition. The residents of 611 Melbourne Ave were not injured.
